RULES & REGULATIONS
CRITERIA
1. Open to male and female, 18 years old and over.
2. Singles only. There is no category for duets.
3. Registration fees must by paid in full before rehearsals. Upon payment, contestants will have a choice of time of appearance.
4. Rehearsal with the band is mandatory. The back up band provided shall be used.
5. If you have a back up person, he or she must be present at the rehearsal. Each contestant is allowed to use one person for personal back up.
6. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to compete.
7. The amateur category is open to any person who has not recorded in any recording studio.
8. The semi-professional category is open to people who have recorded, but not using it as a career or headlining major shows, functions, etc. Finalists from previous Treaty & York Boat Days Talent Showcase amateur category will be permitted to enter in this category.
9. Fifteen (15) minutes grace time is allowed for each contestant. If a contestant fails to appear fifteen minutes after they have been called to the stage, he or she will be disqualified from the show.
10. Each contestant will be required to submit a tape of the songs they will be performing. This is required at least one week prior to the Talent Show. This will give the band the chance to chart the music and save time at rehearsal.
11. This is a country talent showcase; therefore contestants must enter with a country song.
JUDGING:
1. Only songs rehearsed by the contestant will be judged. Judges will have a list of all contestants with the songs they rehearsed.
2. The first paid registered contestants will have priority over a song. Same song cannot be entered by another contestant.
3. Contestants are allowed one start only. Should the back up band make an error, contestant will be given a chance to start over and will be judged only on that.
4. Judging will be based on stage presence, voice quality, audience response, presentation and originality.
5. Judges’ decisions are final.
PLEASE NOTE: THE JUDGES USED AT THIS TALENT SHOWCASE ARE MUSICIANS/SINGERS/DJ’S AND HAVE BEEN AROUND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY FOR SOME TIME.
