Coed Slo-Pitch 9-12 Years Old


RULES FOUND IN 2003-2004 SOFTBALL CANADA GUIDE AND RULE HANDBOOK WILL BE USED INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

1.) Entry fee of $50.00 must be paid before first game, along with team roster, date of births and individual registration forms.

2.) Open to male and female between the ages of 9-12 years as of July 1, of the relative year (ie; players turning 13 on June 30, of the relative year is ineligible to play) Maximum number of players allowed per team is 15.

3.) 5 female and 5 male on the field at all times and teams must have the following age categories at any combination.

Female
- One or two 9 years old
- One or two 10 years old
- One or two 11 years old
- One 12 year old
Male
- One or two 9 years old
- One or two 10 years old
- One or two 11 years old
- One 12 year old
Note: Younger age category may be substituted for a higher age category; but a higher age category can not be substituted for a lower category. All substitutions are as follows; female for female and male for male.

4.) Umpire will establish ground rules and boundary lines before each game. Only coach or captain may discuss rules with umpire, no one else.

5.) All games will be 5 innings long.

6.) There will be three outs or once around the batting order per inning, whichever comes first.

7.) Teams will be given a 15 minute grace, to or their game will be forfeited.

8.) Strike zone will be the extended part of the home plate. Ball hitting home plate will be considered a ball.

9.) Batter is out when a third strike is called, including an uncaught foul ball hit after two strikes.

10.) Batter-baserunners are recommended to wear helmets while batting and on bases.

11.) If a male batter is walked on 4 consecutive balls he will automatically be rewarded 2nd base, however, if female player is a better hitter than the male player ahead of her, umpire will only give male player first base.

12.) No lead offs, but runner may be tag up on a fly ball.

13.) Sliding will be permitted at second base, third base and back to first base. Sliding at home plate is an automatic out.

14.) Team uniforms are recommended, but not necessary. TYBD protest mandate will be in effect for this event.

15.) The infield fly rule will not be in effect during the tournament, although umpires will be aware of possible intentional drop balls.
