Rules & RegulationsSquare Dance Competition 1.) Square Dance groups can register in one category only. All groups are required to register one half (1/2) hour prior to the square dance competition. Registration deadline is @ 9:00AM, Saturday, August 9, 2003. 2.) Names and positions of couples must be provided on the registration entry form. The dance group will not be allowed on until the registration fee is paid, no exceptions. It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure that registration fees are made on time. 3.) All participants are required to adhere to the age limits set out in each category. Proof of age may be requested. In the event that proof of age is not available, the team at the discretion of the Coordinator may be disqualified. 4.) A limit of 2 dancers over age limits for each category, will be allowed to enter with each team. (ie. an intermediate group may have two dancers from a junior or adult category, gender will not be a factor) 5.) Fiddler and back up band is provided. 6.) Second change will be St. Anne's Reel. The breakdown will be Big John McNeill. 7.) There is a minimum of four couples per set. The groups may have a spare couple, they will be required to register as part of the group. The spare couple will not be allowed to dance if their names do not appear on the registration form. 8.) Abusive and profane language by the instructors or dancers will not be tolerated. Any infractions will result in immediate disqualification of the entire group. 9.) All dance groups are required to remain in their dancing outfits during the competition. Taps are allowed and are optional. 10.) The order in which the groups will dance, will be consistent with the order of entry. 11.) The coach may guide their group, interference during the competition will not be allowed, or result in disqualification 12.) In the case where a tie may result, the groups that are tied will dance off to a breakdown. 13.)Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to compete. Should they appear during their designated time of dance under the influence, the group will be disqualified and the entry fee will not be refunded. 14.) Judging will be based on Performance, Presentation, Appearance, Crowd Applause. A point system will be used, the judges decision is final. 15.) Individual Waiver / Consent Forms must be completed prior to start of competition.
